Dream Wheeler edition by Deb Hunt Health Fitness Dieting eBooks

A heart-warming true story that proves it’s never to late to follow your dreams, and you’re never too old to look for love.
At sixty-four, Jane Lambert swapped her ex-council flat in London for a derelict cottage in north western France. Being in a wheelchair was the least of her worries. Battling freezing winters, blocked drains and dwindling finances, this eccentric Englishwoman renovated her run down cottage and turned the empty plot of land into a gardener’s paradise. But her biggest challenge lay ahead. After three years in France she went looking for love. She put an ad in the local paper and embarked on a series of blind dates, telling none of them about the wheelchair. At the age of sixty-seven she met seventy-two year old Rene, a cantankerous, opinionated ex-Parisian. He turned out to be the love of her life. And that was when her troubles really began.
Dream Wheeler edition by Deb Hunt Health Fitness Dieting eBooks
Deb Hunt's beautifully descriptive writing takes the reader into the world of an inspiring lady (Jane): the houses she lives in and the countries - moving from Ealing in London and a hamlet in Northern France. Without pity or judgement she tells the tale of challenges and conquerings as Jane sets out to achieve her dream of a rural life in a foreign country, hoping to find love...infact intending to find love. I was transported to her world and captivated by her story, so warmly written. I loved the happiness, the fun and the honesty of this real life story. The descriptions of her garden and her approach to recycling everything - including tea bags - are delightful. It is in the ilk of the original 'story of setting up and living overseas' A Year in Provence, describing the colourful experiences of such a journey. Truly a MUST read.Product details

Dream Wheeler edition by Deb Hunt Health Fitness Dieting eBooks Reviews
Deb Hunt writes a delightfully humble story of a woman who, despite huge physical and economic hurdles, sets about following her dreams and creating a new life in her retirement years. This is a well written and compelling tale that I couldn't put down. I enjoyed the descriptions of Jane's wonderfully chaotic journey through life in her DIY French cottage and garden. The little things in life - the meals, the shopping expeditions ... all not so little when you are confined to a wheel chair - are all woven into this story in an engaging way. There is humour combined with pathos in Jane's search for a lover. The thing I liked most about this book was the author's honest reflection on herself as she writes this book. This book is not just a story about Jane's life. It is a story about how the author grew out of the inspiration she took from Jane. This was so strong that I felt at the end that I wanted to read the sequel about Deb.
I loved this book. Jane seemed to live life to the fullest, despite being confined to a wheel chair. She surrounded with bright colors and was an amazing gardener. What an inspiring story. I am so glad I read it.
I read this book in 3 days so absorbing was it. Of course being a Francophile helps and having travelled in the areas she mentions as well ! Also knowing of others who've taken the same voyage! And she never complained.
I found this book to be a profoundly moving story of a person who in her infirmities takes life by the scruff of the neck and gets on with it no matter what the odds.
It is very well written and the author cajoles you along with this remarkable woman.
I love this book! Not only do I love the characters, I love the writing. Deb Hunt is profoundly a wordsmith.
An inspirational and enjoyable story about a positive and determined woman who didn't let her challenges hinder the achievement of her dreams - a reminder to us all that if we wish to have no regrets in our later years, we'd better put our plans into action. This book is an entertaining read, even though the editing needed a little more refinement.
Such an affectionate portrayal of a fantastic human being. Jane is everything we all strive to be - warm, generous, courageous, funny, determined, upbeat and, most of all, eternally optimistic. Hers is truly an extraordinary life, and I think what the author does so well is to tell Jane's story without pity but with heartfelt admiration for a life well lived. Quite often I forgot all about the daily struggles Jane must have because most of the time she seems to be having so much fun, and that's what makes this such an inspiring read. Anyone with a love of gardening will also revel in the author's descriptions of Jane's patch of earth that she transforms into a glorious and productive garden.
